It has been determined that during periods of dry weather certain hazardous and dangerous conditions are brought about by open burning, and that burning constitutes a serious hazard to the health, safety, and welfare of persons and property located within Craighead County, Arkansas.
Under these conditions, any outdoor fire can easily escape control and containment is difficult. The Arkansas Forestry Commission has classified all of Arkansas as being in high wildfire danger.
Due to the severe drought conditions being experienced at this time, a ban on all such open burning is declared by County Judge Ed Hill of Craighead County, Arkansas.
No open burning during a burn ban shall be allowed. It shall be unlawful for any person to burn or cause to be burned any leaves, trash, forest vegetation, or any other combustible material of any kind or to permit any such fire for burning within the county.
This burn ban will remain in place until such time as there has been enough rain to remedy the fire hazard situation or otherwise notified.
David Moore has been designated as the Burn Ban Officer for Craighead County and the designated point of contact related to questions regarding this declaration.
